Working With AI Feels More Like Leadership Than Coding
AI is less predictable than traditional software, so it behaves more like a colleague than a tool. You get better results by giving it context, clear intent, examples and corrections - much like leading a team.
Getting good at AI takes time and practice
Learning how to talk to AI, understand what it’s telling you, and what it’s good and bad at.
How the Claude Code team does code review
The people that write Claude Code should know something about how to write and review code written by Claude Code. They’ve optimized the human time and effort for code review. Human attention is focused on the risky part. Some changes are more risky than others, so they require different levels of review.
Code review is also about sharing knowledge. But rather than expecting anyone to have a full mental model of the codebase in their head, they ask Claude for an explainer of the part they’re interested in.
Ex-GitHub CEO launches a GitHub rival that reinvents the pull request
Entire’s Trails is a GitHub rival built around agentic code review.
The new bottleneck for developers isn’t writing the code - agents take care of that - but code review. Entire is betting that solving the code review bottleneck requires an entirely new platform.
Instead of developers reviewing code changes manually, Trails gives them a dashboard with customizable evals scored by agents. If the evals come back green, it’s ok to merge the code without a detailed human review.
WSL containers are about to make Docker on Windows obsolete
WSL now has a built-in wslc command to build and run Linux containers without Docker Desktop.
It follows Docker’s syntax, works with OCI images including Docker Hub,
and reached general availability on 29 September.
For example, wslc run -d -p 8080:80 --name web nginx
starts an nginx container in the background and makes its web server available at localhost:8080
I’ve switched the dev container for this blog to wslc, by setting VS Code’s dev.containers.dockerPath to wslc.
It mostly just worked, but bundle install failed because the gem folders in the image are only writable by root,
so I set BUNDLE_PATH to the home folder in the
devcontainer.json.
Single-tenant Titus: VM-level isolation on a multi-tenant container platform
Netflix has its own container platform, Titus - their in-house equivalent of Kubernetes. This article is about one specific problem of isolating tasks that would otherwise be noisy neighbours, by adding a mode that gives a task its own right-sized VM behind the same Titus API.
